On site in Malawi together with Globhe and UNICEF

Currently the Everdrone team is doing some intense fieldwork, on site in the Kasungu region in Malawi. Together with the Swedish drone service company Globhe and healthcare company HemoCue we are performing test flights focusing on autonomous cargo deliveries. More specifically we are testing optical flow technology and precise marker landing under realistic circumstances. The work is part of an initiative where a humanitarian drone testing corridor has been launched in Malawi by Government and UNICEF.

In a region where bad roads and limited resources cause logistical challenges, especially during the rainy season, quick deliveries by drone can actually make the difference between life and death, e.g. when it comes to transporting blood samples and medical test equipment.

The test work is documented by a team from BBC World Hacks and we are looking forward to share their piece as soon as it becomes available.
